About Critters Academy
Critters Academy was founded by Vanessa with a clear purpose to raise the standard of animal care education.
Vanessa has over 20 years of experience working within the animal care and education sector, with a specialist background in animal science, canine first aid and professional training delivery. She is qualified in zoology, canine behaviour and training, canine nutrition, leadership and management, and also holds a Diploma in Teaching.
Throughout her career, Vanessa has taught and course led across further and higher education, supporting more than 2,000 students studying animal science and animal care related programmes. Many of her former students have progressed into successful careers within veterinary nursing, veterinary medicine, zoology, marine biology, canine training & behaviour and the wider animal industry.
Alongside teaching, Vanessa has carried out extensive consultancy work with leading national and international awarding organisations including City & Guilds, iPET Network, AIM Qualifications and Pearson BTEC. Her work has included qualification development, educational consultancy and contributing towards nationally delivered OFQUAL regulated qualifications, including involvement in the development of T Level content within the animal care sector.
Vanessa is also the founder of Critters Academy, an award-winning specialist animal care training provider offering professional and regulated qualifications in animal care and canine first aid.
Passionate about both animal welfare and education, Vanessa is committed to making high-quality animal care knowledge accessible, practical and engaging for both professionals and everyday pet owners.
